CITES : the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
The CITES certificate request serves to control the movement of animal and plant species listed as endangered by the Ministry of Environment. Thus, objects that contain certain animal or floral material are subject to a request for circulation to import or export. This includes ivory, tortoise shell, leather, feathers, coral, stuffed, dried flowers, etc.
Upon entry or exit of France, items containing materials from endangered species must come with a CITES certificate.
– When France is the dispatch country, a French CITES should be established which will transform into a CITES for the destination country upon the object’s arrival.
– Similarly, when the object is imported into France, the CITES sender country will be turned into a French CITES upon the arrival of the object.
